THURS. JANUARY 12

I had to go out last night, and was such a zombie when I finally got home that the thought of sitting down and typing didn't even occur to me. (I feel only slightly less zombified this morning...)

I actually had breakfast w/ my kids yesterday. Made them bagels and cream cheese for breakfast. And even though they won't eat it, I remembered I still had a lot of lox left over from Christmas morning. (I could buy a pound and a half at Costco for what 6 oz. would have cost at Noah's Bagels -- so I bought the pound and a half. And now I have, oh, about 20 oz. leftover.) So I had a sesame bagel, cream cheese and lox.

We were out of milk (and just about everything else that doesn't go in the freezer), and had to buy power bars for Sabrina to send to the soldier her class has adopted in Iraq. So off we went to the grocery store, and Lee and I picked up lunch there. I had a roast beef sandwich on foccacia, w/ watercress, onions, tomatoes, cheddar It came with chips so I nobly picked up a bag of baked sour-cream-and-onion chips rather than normal ones. I figured, since they were from Kettle Chips, the best out there, they had to be good, right? Yuck. Wrong. Inedible. I ate less than half a mini-bag before finally giving up and dumping the whole lot.

No dinner for me, as I had to go out to a meeting. But the kids somehow persuaded Lee to stop at Cold Stone for ice cream on the way home, and Sabrina bought me some with her own money. (The rule is, any snacks away from home, movie snacks, etc., they have to buy on their own.) I really didn't feel like much, so had what amounted to half a scoop of vanilla w/ peppermint and chocolate chips.

It turned out there was food at the meeting I went to -- but, as always seems to be the case with this particular group, it ended up being something I can't or won't eat. This time they had a lovely salad -- but it had avocadoes in it. I'm allergic, so no salad for me. I had 3 crackers with some slivers of cheese and some Pelligrino. Skipped the wine (I was already yawning embarrassingly). Skipped the cookies. Came home and crashed. And then of course, couldn't sleep. Oy.

We have a fairly calm weekend ahead of us, and nothing on the books for today, so maybe I'll get caught up on my sleep! Tonight we'll watch last night's "Dancing with the Stars" and I'll make enchiladas. And then go to bed early...
