MY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION

I have always been something of a nervous eater. I get nervous, I eat. And in 2005, I had a lot to be nervous about. So I nibbled myself an extra 8 pounds or so. (Not helped by being very sick in the fall, and unable to exercise or really to do much of anything.)

So one of my New Year's Resolutions was to start listing every bite I eat, the better to be aware of what I'm actually putting into my body. While I stopped years ago promising myself to stick to this diet or that diet starting in whatever January it was, this resolution I think I can keep. I love lists. I order my world through making lists.

And given the amount of time I spend on my computer, I thought, okay, I'll make my list on my computer. That should be more interesting that just jotting down random food notes in my schedule or in a notebook. For one thing, I sort of think through my fingers when I'm typing, and I'm likely to think more about the choices I made than if I'm just scribbling them down.

Then one morning it struck me: What if my list was public? Would I be more conscientious if I thought someone was virtually looking over my shoulder with every bite?

So I decided to start a food blog. And this is it.

Not that I think anyone will really read it. I will, to be fair, post it on my regular blog, so any of you readers who feel you want to check up on me can do so. However, unless I see comments from people, I will pretty much assume no one is reading this blog.

But you could. You could just click over and read it. And that knowledge alone might keep me on the straight and narrow!

Anyway, if you are reading... now you know what you're reading. And thanks for reading.

I just have to say...you are a brave woman to do this. Keep it up. I enjoy your writing...even when it is about food.
